Little to no character development - Otto has no revelations, gains no new power. An established character 180s in the most boring way possible, with no risk to anyone. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't eager to read it - normally I can't put a book down near the end, but I had no problems pausing this one to do other tasks. The only references to 10 years passing were 'wow everyone looks older' - no real updates on the Empire (Lux is well behaved Straken still isn't - all that's mentioned). No intrigue or mystery, Otto shows up, Otto kills the baddies, and Otto leaves. Such a meh book. Most of it was the travelling (genuinely over half the book is before they reach the new continent) and no, nothing happens during the travelling.

I've missed Otto Shenk. His story is one that pulled me into a fit of rage, sadness, and triumph through my own life. Since his beginning I've grown alongside him and if not for this recent one I would probably have disappeared into an alternate version of myself. Truly thank you for the continued story, James.
