Beautiful and challenging It is a lovely book. Although, I love her other books much better, I can't help but appreciate her planned "you don't know until you read the entire book" trick. Just when I was thinking that I knew the ending, everything changed!
Mansfield Park So glad I read Austen first as an older person. I've seen poor Fanny raked thru the coals by Austen fans for not being the heroine they wanted. Instead, I am happy to read about a heroine who was not wise beyond her years but who had a backbone no one expected and who was able to grow into her wisdom. Loved this book!
A really interesting and lovely story Not her best but it is still as captivating as all her rest. And of her protagonists, Fanny Price is one of my favorites. There are so many things I identify with, especially the odious aunt & her relationship with her as I have mean aunts too. But there were moments that could have been without and overall P&P, Persuasion are her best beginning to end. 3rd fav tho. :)
I loved this story and hated it all at the same time. Poor bullied Fanny! There was so much detailed plot build throughout the book that the ending felt a little weak. Wish Ms. Austen put more effort into a detailed ending. But I guess nothing compares with P&P in my eyes...
Timeless story Jane Austen gives us a magnificent tale with timeless characters! Mansfield Park stands with Pride and Prejudice as a literary work of art while maintaining unique themes and considerations of different social questions than the more popular work. I would highly recommend this book to any and all who would rifle through the pages. A word of caution, however; the digital copy here in Google does have some mistakes that change the meaning of a few passages. Proceed with care to the original text!
