This is an extremely useful book for those who study language, particularly Sociolinguistics. Janet Holmes and Nick Wilson explained many theories, making this book as one of the most reliable and complete sources one can use in one's academic analysis.

Janet Holmes is Emeritus Professor in Linguistics at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand.

Nick Wilson

is Lecturer in Linguistics at Macquarie University, Australia.
