About the author

At the time this book was written, Dr. Scherz has been working as a clinical psychologist, serving in various roles from psychotherapist, educational consultant, author, and technology entrepreneur.

In 2001, Dr. Scherz created the first wholeness center in New Jersey, called Integrated Therapy Center (ITC). The vision for ITC is to provide individuals with a wide range of holistic services such as yoga, nutrition, massage, psycho-education, and physical conditioning to help in transforming the body, mind, and spirit. The center has a dual person of providing parallel types of services to small and large systems. The center is located in south central New Jersey, only an hour from Dr. Scherz’s birthplace in New York City. By putting together a team of outstanding professionals covering a wide range of specialties, Dr. Scherz believes this wholeness center will make a difference in the lives of many people who recognize the benefit of personal growth.

Dr. Scherz is the author of five published books in the field of education: Harnessing the Power of Resistance, The Truth about School Violence, Catastrophic School Violence: A new approach to prevention, Workbook on Catastrophic School Violence, and A Personal Guide to Wellness, He has an unpublished manuscript on couple’s therapy.

Dr. Scherz has begun several new ventures including a social media networking site called ufeud ( where people are helped to navigate differences more productively. His work on this technology tool involves the development of an early warning violence detection and prevention system for schools, called the PVI (Potential for Violence Index).

Dr. Scherz is also the creator of PsychPro ( a learning management software where helping professionals use a multimedia platform to enhance their practice. His next project currently under way, is TxHelper ( where providers of health care are brought together with those seeking help, in an online library of video courses to improve our health.

Dr. Scherz is also the founder of TeacherCoach ( a site dedicated to improving the lives of educators. This project consists of bringing educators together to help build support and success around both personal growth and professional development goals. On a more personal level, Dr. Jared Scherz is married to Dr. Donna Scherz, also a clinical psychologist. Together they live in Mt. Laurel, NJ with their three children, Cassidy (10), Sera (9), and Emma (7), as well as their cat Scarlett. At home Dr. Scherz is best known as Daddy, the gardener and chef, dedicated to raising a healthy and happy family.
