This is a nice sweet small town holiday romance. For me though it was almost too sweet. Dan is a great character but he takes nice to an almost unbelievable level. I'm not a fan of Sophie. I understood her need to stand on her own two feet but any mother knows that when there is a baby involved sometimes you just have to swallow your pride and accept the help. Instead of being grateful for the kindness shown to her by Dan and the town Sophie is resentful almost to the point of being rude. I had a hard time understanding why Dan was drawn to Sophie. It seemed that he was in love with the idea of being in love rather than Sophie herself. Perhaps this is just my own cynical view. The book does have good points. It's very well written and like them or not the characters are well developed and memorable. Overall though the story just wasn't for me.

This is a sweet, touching story about two individuals, each with their own insecurities and struggles. Dan Rigby meets Sofie Pennington in the middle of a snowy night on his way out of Fly Creek with the intend of starting a life elsewhere. Sofie is stranded, eight months pregnant, and wanting to do everything by herself after just divorcing a controlling man. Determined to surprise her sister, since she’s decided to move and live in Fly Creek. From the moment Dan meets Sofie and helps her get to shelter, the attraction is evident, but not without doubts and conflicting feelings. Will they open their hearts to the possibility of love , or will Sophie be so determined to be independent and Dan in being someone’s number one, that they will miss their HEA? The Cowboy's Christmas Baby is a wonderful addition to the Fly Creek series by Jennifer Hoopes. If you haven't read the first two you can read it as a standalone and not feel lost. As always, Jennifer paints an inviting picture of the people of Fly Creek along with Sofie and Dan. I especially enjoy how much you want to root for the characters to find their way, and yet laugh along with them. It is such an inviting place, I would love to visit Fly Creek and meet the residents along with one special horse..... I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
