This timeless collection contains selections attributed to J.S. Bach, his son C.P.E. Bach, and others. Generations of students have studied the volume's "Menuet in G Major," "Musette in D Major" and the "Prelude in C Major" from the first volume of the Well-Tempered Clavier. Dr. Palmer provides the texts to the instrumental settings of chorales and arias found in this work, as well as a brief biography of the Bach family.
Fred Kern has selected the Brandenburg themes that work well for solo piano. The arrangements reveal a wealth of inventive counterpoint, energetic rhythms and varied instrumental color. The transcriptions are also playable on harpsichord, electronic keyboard or organ, with difficulty level between the Notebook for Anna Magdalena and the Bach's Two-Part Inventions.
This beautiful piano and organ duet arrangement by E. Power Biggs of one Bach's most enduring and inspiring pieces is easily playable by most church pianists and organists. The pianist will usually be playing the triplet figure, with the organist playing the chordal harmonies and the cantus firmus, however the roles are occasionally reversed, adding variety and interest. This is a perfect choice for performance or just for setting the mood for services and is a must for the church musician's library. Two copies included. Federation Festivals 2011-2013 selection.

Based on Events and Episodes in the life of Johann Sebastian Bach, this Late Elementary piano collection may be used as supplementary literature with any piano method. Many of Bach's pieces were named as Preludes, Sarabandes, Minuets, Arias, and other titles relating to the form of the composition. Mr. Schaum has chosen titles from authentic episodes in Bach's life and applied them to his music. The appropriate captions add color and life to the music, the biographical sketches add musical appreciation, and Mr. Schaum's arrangements make teaching easier.
The six Partitas were originally published individually by Bach between 1726 and 1730. A complete one-volume edition appeared in 1731. Dr. Hans Bischoff used that original complete edition in producing this current edition. The "Overture in the French Manner" is included, and is also known as "Partita in B Minor." It originally appeared in 1735. Introductory notes, preface, and a table of embellishments are included, along with performance footnotes.
Willard A. Palmer updates this popular volume by turn-of-the-century British educator, Walter Carroll. The easiest keyboard works of J.S. Bach and others are presented primarily as Carroll edited them, with complete fingering, tempo, dynamic, and articulation markings. Improvements over Carroll's edition include wider line spacing and the restoration of Bach's ornaments that were previously omitted.
Unlike many Bach editions for guitar, these transcriptions are meant to be performed using a pick. Although a few of the pieces may be played on a standard acoustic guitar, most require an electric guitar or a guitar with a cutaway. All pieces are in the original keys and their ranges may require notes as high as the twenty-second fret. Written in notation and tablature, these six pieces makegreat sight reading exercises. The included online audio will prove an asset inlearning these often challenging pieces. Includes access to online audio.
