This book is a companion piece to the Egyptian exhibit held at the Crystal Palace. The Palace had many beautiful Egyptian relics. The architecture of the Palace itself was somewhat-inspired by Egyptian mythology--at the base of some the staircases outdoors, stone sphinxes stood as guardians. This volume also includes The Egyptian Hieroglyphs by Samuel Birch.
