Journeys of Discovery is part of the Pocket History series - a conveniently portable, stylishly packaged and eminently collectible set of twelve books that each open a window onto a selection of remarkable stories, characters and themes from the past. What would it have been like to be Ferdinand Magellan discovering a hidden strait at the bottom of South Atlantic that opened into the broad expanse of the Pacific, or John Hanning Speke, finding the long sought source of the Nile? Journeys of Discovery takes readers along on ten of history's most momentous expeditions into the heart of the unknown.
