"These are heroines you'll recognize because they are real women like you and me," Bagshaw says. "They have busy lives and character flaws. They make mistakes and have regrets. They long for long and have suffered hurts. But they persevere. And in the stories in this collection they find the love they've been looking for, sometimes where they least expect it."
Judy Bagshaw is a retired elementary school teacher and writer in southern Ontario, Canada. She describes herself as "a woman with a mission and a unique vision." Her mission is to write romantic stories that show plus size women living rich, involved lives. This mission grew out of her own personal struggles living as a large-sized person in a world in which fat is reviled.
"As a reader myself, I was frustrated for years by the lack of stories that reflected the reality of my physical existence," Bagshaw writes in the Author's Note from her short story collection At Long Last, Love. "I knew from experience that romance didn't have a dress size, so why wasn't I seeing full-figured women represented in popular romantic fiction? I decided to address that lack, and this collection is part of the result."
Bagshaw is also author of Kiss Me, Nate! and several other novels.
When the local community theater's resident director falls ill and the leading man lands in hospital, Julie is coerced into directing a contemporary take on The Taming of the Shrew and Nate is recruited for the lead. Their initial clash makes way for friendship, and attraction blossoms into love. But a series of vandalisms threaten to close down the show—and gets personal for Julie.
His frustration with his grandmother grows when he discovers she has moved the beautiful, voluptuous, green-eyed blonde and her freeloading brother into the house that he's supposed to inherit.
Sparks will fly—and Pam is up to the challenge.
Without Sofie's knowledge, her friend spins a lie about them to impress a pair of businessmen and worse yet, sets Sofie up with one of them.
Also on board is Finn Baxter, an ex-cop private eye hot on the trail of a con man with whom he has a personal vendetta. He has plans for the con man—which he keeps under wraps—but he didn't plan on meeting a feisty red-head and losing his heart.
While Sofie and Finn try to resist their growing attraction, mysterious accidents begin to happen to her. Could the perpetrator be Finn, who always seems to be on the scene of the accidents? Or another man, who may be trying to scare Sofie into his arms? Or a fellow passenger with an unexplained but obvious hatred of Sofie?
What IS clear is that a cruise gets complicated when you start it with a big fat lie!
