About this ebook

A New York Times Bestseller

The inspiration for season three of BRIDGERTON, a series created by Shondaland for Netflix, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn: the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington in the fourth of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family.

COLIN AND PENELOPE’S STORY

Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for . . . well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret . . . and fears she doesn’t know him at all.

Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought of as nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same—especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. When he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide . . . is she his biggest threat— or his promise of a happy ending?

i read this in preparation of the season 3 of the bridgerton series. the beginning is one hell of a prologue. it is very well-written. i'm not really a fan of romance so i think it's very romantic for me. though it doesn't just focuses on romance, it also focuses on penelope's relationship with herself. i find her very relatable. the story shows the growth of penelope from being a shy timid girl who is always on the corner to finally being able to accept herself and be confident who is now a center of attraction, fully accepting herself and embracing her flaws. i like her character development. the friendship of penelope and eloise is also highlighted in the story. it is a beautiful heartfelt story of love; romantic love, self-love, and platonic love.

Did not like the book one bit sorry. I am not sure why the author found a need to put everything in brackets so often throughout. Also the characters did not draw me in at all. I love the series but after reading the book I am not sure what made them think it was a masterpiece that needed a TV show. Inconsistent language too. It goes from saying they are aged eight and twenty on one page to saying 28 on another. It also seemed really forced with some dialogue and actions. Read a few chapters bur couldn't force myself to keep going.
