The premise is that a top Company scientist has been murdered. Vatic, an on-the-run half-alive empath with no memory of who or what he is, is told by the Company that he will die in six hours if he can’t find out why the scientist was murdered. This is the Company’s way to provide an ‘added incentive to get the job done’ and give them answers. Vatic is one of the Skilled, a genetically enhanced human “bloodhound” who stops at nothing in pursuit of the truth. This intriguing sci-fi mystery provides a strong story line that holds the reader’s complete attention while moving through the action and building up suspense as the “clock” starts ticking down for Vatic. The characters we meet are well developed and interesting. The combination of suspense, intrigue, and the overall mystery of what is really going on, will lead the reader to a final resolution of the story line. This is an unexpected challenging read that promises much more ahead!

I love science fiction and mostly prefer the older stuff. This one was really good for being a newer book. It was a hard to put down book and action packed. A real page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Vatic is an intriguing, fast-paced science-fiction novel that kept me captivated all the way through! The main character, Vatic, is wonderfully complex and his abilities are definitely cool. I look forward to reading more from this author!
