About this ebook

"IS FAME REALLY WORTH ALL THE TROUBLE?"

Aspiring cartoonist Catherine "Cat" Gold earns her living as a celebrity assistant in uptown Manhattan, while navigating the cramped downtown spaces of life, love, and alternative art. Her boss is Rochelle "Rocky" Love, a celebrated 1970s feminist and has-been 80s radio and television star who is convinced she can forge a 90s comeback with an autobiography.

But the ghostwriter hired to glorify her life instead reveals a battleground of treachery and hypocrisy, littered with lies and sex that cross all the boundaries. When Cat herself experiences Rockys duplicity and learns that the icon is a fraud, she is fueled by a sense of disappointment and conspires with the ghostwriter to reveal the unspeakable truth about their narcissistic boss.

No soul is perfect, but sometimes the search for a idealized life can be self destructive. Lief draws us into the minds of two women who are seeking.

This is so completely unlike any of the Lief books I've read thus far, and what a very pleasant surprise! The back and forth between past and present was handled beautifully, and the story was interesting and compelling. I find myself wanting to google each character to find it where they are now, having been so fully engulfed by the story line and personae created that they feel real. Like old friends I now have to bid adieu! 5 thumbs up!

I wasn't sure what I expected when I started reading this book but it immediately had me hooked with all the different directions it went in. This book has everything, the fight for rights, mental health issues and imperfect families, which I believe we can all relate to. I really love this book. thank you!
