Wow. What a great start to a new series! Laura Drewry really started out with a bang with this novel featuring a hot baseball player, a strong-willed heroine and a beautiful, secluded setting (very romantic). Oh, and don't forget the handsome Irish brothers! If you're a fan of Laura Drewry and have read her Friends First series, you won't be disappointed by the Fishing For Trouble series. Her ability to pull the readers into her fictional world and make them feel as if they're right there, looking as the story unfolds from only a few steps away is an element of this book, too. The characters are real, flawed, scared to acknowledge their true feelings, wary, hopeful, strong-willed and sometimes they're just so funny you'll be laughing out loud along with them. Most importantly, they're relatable. They're just normal people who work hard to pursue their dreams, trying to make the best out of what life handed them and learning from their mistakes. I enjoyed the banter, the constant push and pull kept me turning page after page. What I truly loved was the remote setting. It was so beautiful and romantic, I wished so bad I could move there forever. That's another brownie point for Mrs. Drewry, who managed to write an entertaining, romantic, swoony and sexy book (watch out for the bonfire when Kate and Liam surrender to the attraction... it's sizzling hot!) set in a remote fishing lodge with nothing but the characters themselves to provide entertainment; all the while she remained true to her beautiful writing style we all fell in love with when reading the Friends First series. If you've yet to discover Laura Drewry's books, this book will make you fall in love with her stories. If you've adored her previous series, this one won't disappoint you. What grabbed my attention to read this one was the hero Liam is a baseball player. I'm so glad that I gave this one a read because it's a truly great story. There is a second chance at love, but there are other second chances as well so Liam and his family. Liam and Kate have a history that could just lead the destruction of the family's future with the lodge. This book shows you the true character of Kate because right off the bat she could have been crazy with revenge, but she bucks up and gets her hands dirty. I'm not going to lie I was not a huge fan of Liam right off the bat just for the way he treated Kate back when and his attitude in the beginning, but let me tell you he wins me over rather quickly. What starts off as something that could go horribly wrong turns out to be the best thing to ever happen. You can feel the connection and feelings Liam and Kate have for one another and you hope like heck that grab their second chance with both hands.

Kate has spent her entire life proving herself. When she finally gets a chance of fulfilling her dreams of success, her past comes back to haunt her in a very big way. Off the Hook by Laura Drewry is full of moments that we all have that make us wonder if getting out of bed in the morning is worth the aggravation. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Though not as emotionally heavy as past works I have read by this author, the characters still face obstacles that make an impact on who they are and what direction they want to take next. Kate and Liam have to decide if a second chance is what they both want and worth what they have to give up. Off the Hook is a look at what the price of happiness is. The lighter scope made it a pleasant surprise.
