***4 ‘Assasin’ Stars*** This book was an unexpected, yet absolutely pleasant surprise. It was all kinds of smexy (dear lord was it panty incinerating smexy), sweet, funny and filled with heart, but the path was took a few twists and turns that I even I couldn’t have thought up and yet, when everything was said and done, it was perfect for Abby and Lucas and was what they needed to go through in order to find their HEA. I loved Lucas and Abby. Abby is a spitfire. She’s sassy, has a huge heart, is a little spastic and when she gets riled up has a way of blurting out truths that one can’t ignore. Her past isn’t all wine and roses and she’s working hard to keep herself on the straight and narrow and find herself. Lucas is all kinds of rock god smexy goodness, but due to certain circumstances isn’t finding much joy in that status lately. What I loved about Luke was that while he was alpha AF, and decadently wicked, had a golden heart and soul. Abby and Lucas’ journey was hands down HOT, but intermingled with the searing sexual chemistry was an odd connection of sorts where they are both trying to find themselves again and through a slightly unconventional, but very intriguing situation, they give each other the much needed push in the right direction towards being the people they never knew they could be. This is my first read by Lauren Rowe and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. The little twists in the journey kept me turning the pages, as did the smexyness. The pacing was good and writing engaging, and though there is a part of me that does wish that the 1st person POV had been dual instead of solo, I still enjoyed it a lot and am looking forward to reading more books by the author. ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~

I really wanted to like this rockstar romance, but in all honesty, I didn't find much romance or much to like about the characters. When Abby meets Lucas, she's snarky and quick to put him in his place, and I thought that she would be a character I could enjoy reading about. However, it doesn't take long before she starts coming across as more of a doormat than anything else and when her past issues are revealed, I found it hard to believe she would have so readily accepted Lucas' offer. Instead of romance, I found a girl who is face to face with her teenage crush and rockstar used to getting his way and willing to take full advantage of a situation. To sum it up, the more I read, the more I felt like I was reading a Pretty Woman knock-off without the chemistry or romance. In addition to that, there's the fact that the book went on for some time after the week was over, so by the time this pair did see each other again to get their happy ending, it was just too little, too late. I will add that the conclusion did have the potential for romance if it hadn't taken so long to get there, but that was blown by Lucas' comment about the many other women he's had while they were apart, which wouldn't have been nearly as bad if Abby hadn't been naked and in his arms at the time. Overall, I'd have to say that yes, the steamy scenes were quite vivid, but the story was a disappointment.

4.5 Star review of Misadventures on the Night Shift (Misadventures #6) by Lauren Rowe Another fabulous addition to a series I am fast becoming addicted to. The variety of authors who are writing this series is amazing. Lauren Rowe is a new author to me and I have no idea why. This was a fun, quick, funny read and not to mention smoking hot. Abby Medford works the night shift which suits her down to the ground. Her life becomes complicated when rocker and bad boy Lucas Ford checks in. Not only is he devastatingly hot but he is insistent that Abby deliver his room service request. Will Abby and Lucas play out their fantasies without either of them getting hurt? Will Abby be able to stand the heat, or will she decide to run for the hills? Dare she risk becoming involved and the potential for Lucas to break her heart? Lucas and Abby simply put, rock together (pun intended). I thoroughly enjoyed this book and felt it was a great addition to the series.
