NANO CONTESTANT SERIES: Episodes 1-3 of 9 Serialized Episodes
In 2114, Pinnacle Corporation, the world’s largest tech company, hosts the Tech Games to showcase the world’s latest technology. The contestants must battle it out in brutal games to ultimately win a $100 million prize!
These digital and hybrid athletes must use everything at their disposal in order to take that prize and all of its glory in the Tech Games.
Hacking, firewalls and electronic countermeasures are all being used by each contestant while running and fighting at top speed. It’s all on the line, because nothing is being left on the table!
EPISODE 1 - Whatever It Takes
How far would you go to save your family?
Roland has vowed to save his father’s life and get him set free - no matter what it takes. Entering the brutal Tech Games as a contestant gives Roland the perfect cover to get close to the Pinnacle Corporation and try to uncover evidence that would free his father.
But first, he must qualify by demonstrating a new, state of the art technology - implanted in his own body. With the Tech Games deadline closing fast, he must risk his own life with untested nanotech, or he will lose his chance to save his father’s life forever.
EPISODE 2 - Ultimate Endurance
Extreme times call for extreme measures.
Only 48 of the 1,000 entrants will be allowed to move forward into the Tech Games as a contestant. Becoming a contestant is Roland’s only chance to get close enough to the Pinnacle Corporation to uncover the evidence needed to clear his father’s name and save him from death by incineration.
Roland has trained hard, but will it be enough? His resolve to become a Tech Games contestant is tested over a double marathon of the 5 most difficult terrains known to man. He must survive sheer rock cliffs, jumping off towering waterfalls, racing down an erupting volcano, fighting through blinding sandstorms and using parkour style freerunning to clear urban obstacles.
More brutal than the terrain are other racers. Willing to kill to qualify, the other contestants use martial arts, grappling (or just plain murder) to gain a position during this 52.4 mile endurance run. Contestants will use every bit of their technology to gain an advantage. Android arms for strength, cyborg legs for speed and digitized DNA for healing apps. Roland must use his new nanotech to survive and compete for one of the coveted Tech Games positions.
Will Roland’s untested nanotech be enough to be one of the 48 that crosses the Tech Games finish line? He must push himself passed what he thought was possible for a chance to save his dad.
EPISODE 3 - Combat Obstacles
Determination forged in combat is its purest form.
Game One of the Tech Games is pushing the limits of even extra-human capabilities. Roland must face the longest and most dangerous obstacle course in existence, if he wants a chance at uncovering evidence against the ruthless Pinnacle Corporation to save his father.
With 20 story rope climbs, 70 mph escalators, 100 foot free dives, and a strongman event, will Roland’s homegrown nanotech be able to keep up with the other cutting edge contestants? Roland and his tiny team will have to dig deeper than they ever thought possible as they try to find solutions on the fly for overcoming these harrowing obstacles.
Weapons are authorized! Episode 3 adds another method for the contestants to dish out even more brutal punishments than before: futuristic weapons. Roland unleashes his carbon alloy weapon, using his mind to uniquely shape it for every situation.
There’s more than just the race! Skylar’s latest plugin puts Roland undercover in Pinnacle’s most secure facility. One false move on this clandestine operation will most certainly put Roland in a small cell, forever.
Leif Sterling has always had a rich imagination and an eccentricity for all things technical. He read every door-stoppingly, thick computer manual that he could get his hands on from the time he was twelve on. Not surprisingly, college yielded bachelors and masters degrees in IT for him, which has come in handy when describing futuristic nano systems that haven’t been invented yet.
He enjoys using his powers for good, especially in the craft of storytelling - dreaming up the barely possible, and then placing the reader right in the middle of the action.
Writing is also a great reason to stay inside, in the AC, away from the hot Texas sun where he lives with his beautiful wife, two children and one feisty cat.
