About this ebook

For one aspiring writer, the Hamptons is the perfect place to start over and rediscover her creative spark, but she doesn't expect to find a second chance at love with the mysterious man who lives next door, in this gripping emotional read by the author of The Songbird Trilogy.

After giving up my dream of becoming a writer in favor of a marriage that was destined to fail, I'd been given a second chance. A chance to discover if after seven years, free-spirited Evie Rivers still lay beneath the surface.

For eight weeks, it would be just me, my laptop, and the wintry Hamptons landscape. No distractions, no interruptions. At least, that was the plan. Until he came along.

Adam Walker. He was a smart, sexy Englishman hell bent on helping me find what I had lost: myself. He laughed easily and found the good in every situation, but I couldn't help wondering what sadness lay behind the smile that slipped when he let his guard down.

Suddenly, though eight weeks doesn't feel like long enough, maybe eight weeks can be all it takes to change your life forever.

Evie is a little quirky which is nice. It’s refreshing how she isn’t jaded or overly sexy. She’s working things out as she goes along. Adam is quick with sweet gestures like offering to cook and give back rubs. They have a few spats that come on suddenly and resolve easily. Their behaviors are a bit wishy-washy and insta sometimes, but their kind hearts are attractive. Evie and Adam are definitely made for each other. Broken is full of über romance. There are walks on the beach, candles, bubble baths, massages, heart-felt gifts and more. It does have a few detailed sexy scenes, but it’s definitely made for the uncynical in search of a love story.

About the author

Lisa Edward is the author of The Songbird trilogy, the novella Duty of Care and a contributor to the collation of short stories in Hook & Ladder 69. While Lisa has called Melbourne Australia home for her entire life, she has lived and worked in England, and travelled through most parts of Europe and the United States. She loves nothing more than spending time with her beautiful daughter, or curling up into the early hours of the morning with a great novel.

By day, Lisa works in the analytical IT field, so relishes the opportunity to foster her creative side through writing. Her deep appreciation for literature was nurtured from a young age, being taught to respect books and get lost in their stories. She enjoys reading honest and realistic novels that are relatable, thought provoking, and leave a lasting impression. She can't write without music playing, using the emotions from different songs to invoke those of her characters. Lisa takes inspiration from her own life experiences, the people around her, and those she has met in her travels.
