This was an interesting side story, but not really a full novel. Individual scenes are well crafted and fun to read, but the story as a whole is missing a clear plot arc. Its impact relies heavily on the reader already being invested in the characters from reading previous novels. It is also much more in Bujold's romance novel style, which I don't enjoy as much.

Well written, it's typical of an adult lit book where nothing really happens but is heavy on philosophy and what characters are thinking. It is likely the last book that will appear out of this series and it is entirely different than most of the rest of it. Should you decide to skip it, you will not have missed any of "the story" of the series.

not what I expected. very much a romance novel that seemed to try to give fan service by obliquely referencing all the adventures that have gone before. I've always loved her character development but a book with absolutely no action was not what I was looking for.
