***5 Stars*** Many, many moons ago I fell in love with the Rough Riders series, which I actually started out of order, but quickly grabbed book 1 and basically devoured all the books that were out and then each one as they came out. I’m don’t have enough fingers and toes to count how many times I not only re-read the series, but certain books in the series (Rough, Raw and Ready IS my ultimate fav and the McKay twins are in second place because choosing one just isn’t fair) and it definitely set the standard on what I love when it comes to family dynamics in books. And though it’s been a while since I did a re-read of the series, doing the reviewer/blogger thing makes it a little hard some days, the love I have for it has never faded. So, diving into these short stories honestly felt like a homecoming. I loved getting to see what they were all doing after the HEA and it was everything I wanted and then some because everyone was either mentioned or actually in at least one of the stories, so I’m a happy, happy girl. (Though I wouldn’t mind a story about a certain road trip to a George Strait concert in the future *BSEG*) As for the cookbook side of things. I’ll be honest and admit that I didn’t spend too much time looking over the recipes because I needed to read the stories first, but upon my scanning, there are a few that definitely caught my eye and will definitely be trying out! ~ Copy provided by the author & voluntarily reviewed ~

When I first heard about this new cookbook by Lorelei James, admittedly I was a bit confused and thought hmm how is this going to work. I almost passed it up but OMG I am so glad I took a chance. I LOVED this collection of not only amazing sounding recipes but the short story updates of all our McKay favorites. The Rough Riders series is one of my all-time favorites and as a reader, I always want more insight into what happens when the story ends. This collection met those needs perfectly!

Not only did this book give us some insight into some of our favourite McKay relationships, it also has some yummy, easy to make, recipes that I am dying to try out! Spanning from the beginnings, to the middles, later on, and current, we get to see snippets of how things in everyday life happened with our beloved couples. What they did when they were starting out, how they coped with regular everyday life, and how they handled troubles that came their way. They also, because let’s face it life happens in kitchens, needed to eat, and boy oh boy, there are some recipes I was ready to set down the book and start right away! I loved every second of the stories and drooled over some of the food that will be in my belly so soon 😊
