About this ebook

As a female firefighter in a small town, Suzanne O’Connell knows that every day will go one of two ways: Either nothing happens, or she suddenly finds herself in over her head. Firefighters never, ever say the words “It’s a quiet day!”—because that’s when all hell breaks loose, and their peaceful, easy day suddenly turns into their worst nightmare. This is exactly what happens to Suzanne when she finds herself trapped with Harold Waters, local law enforcement officer and her old flame, and fellow fireman Toby Chandler, who, according to everyone, is the kind of guy you want watching your back.

In an unusual turn of events, the stakes turn deadly, and Suzanne discovers that trusting the wrong man could leave her life hanging in the balance.

This quick read takes us back to the small town where the O’Connells reside. A family in which the siblings all have dedicated their lives to serve. This time it’s Suzanne’s story. She loves being a firefighter but when her “boyfriend”, a firefighter that was less experienced that her is promoted and later makes a rookie mistake, Suzanne is the one that pays the consequences. Sadly, something that happens to women too often, even in this day and age. Add to that the return of her HS sweetheart, the one who broke her heart, and you know that you have a story that will keep you engage from the start. Another well written story by this talented author. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Suzanne’s life is being a firefighter. She has put her heart and soul into her job. When trapped in a fire she learns the one she thought she could count on has feet of clay and, ultimately, it may cost her much more than she ever thought until she finds support in the last place she ever would have expected. The tale is an all too common example of what a woman faces in what’s still considered a male dominated world. It’s a tough lesson, but Suzanne’s inner strength and the support of her loved ones will see her through. This is a romance filled with emotions and drama, well-drawn characters, and a strong, fast paced storyline that will keep you captivated from start to finish. A perfect addition to this engaging and highly entertaining series.

It was a very interesting book and the main theme is you can't judge a book by it's cover. I know I've seen it in the workplace where people are given jobs because of who they are related to and not because of what they know.
