HOLIDAY STRESS HAS NEVER BEEN THIS HOT

Meet Florence: I’ve done this before, looking for a partner or soul mate or someone-to-grow-to-love, and you know what? I’m done with that. Honestly. I’m just looking for some casual sex.  All I’m interested in is a one-night stand, or several—not all of them with you. Just making it clear that I’m interested in playing with multiple partners. I don’t want to get attached and I don’t want you to get attached.

Meet Will: I’m reeling from a recent divorce and incapable of having a meaningful relationship, possibly even a meaningful conversation. The only upside to my situation is that after fifteen years of monogamy I get to chase all the strange I want.

He’s freshly divorced and in denial. She's twice-burnt and prickly. They’re a terrible idea. They know this. But every time their eyes meet, their clothes come off. Still—they’re not going to fall in love. They are not.

Not even if this one night stand has 365 days.

So, I went into this one with some misconceptions - kind of. I expected humor, and I certainly found that. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book. I also expected it be a lighthearted read, but the level of angst and emotion made it so much more than what I assumed. This is my first experience with this author, and I'll admit the writing style threw me a bit at first. At times, it even seemed choppy and abrupt, but then it clicked. People don't always think in full, grammatically correct sentences, especially in the heat of the moment - whatever that moment may be. Needless to say, the story and it's wonderfully vivid characters quickly grew on me and I was hooked. Will and Florence are both a bit broken, and their reactions aren't always what a reader would want them to be in a romance. However, those reactions are human and the more you get to know this couple, the more their actions and reactions make sense for them. The emotions run the gamut and are all over the place, and the author makes us feel every single one. And it's not just Will and Florence, the secondary characters are just as interesting and many times, just as important to the story as our couple. Some I loved, and some I just wanted to shake some sense into, but they all added something to the story. At this point, I just have to say that I absolutely loved Martha. I'm glad she's not my mother, but I loved her! To sum it up, Text Me, Cupid is a wonderful mix of sass, sarcasm, wit, too hot to handle steamy fun, and all the raw, unfiltered emotion that comes with finding our way past heartbreak and building a life we can be happy in. And just for good measure, we even get some fun twists along the way. This may be my first read by Collette, but it definitely won't be my last.

About the author

M. JANE COLETTE writes tragedy for those who like to laugh, comedy for the melancholy, and erotica for people who like their fantasies real. She believes rules and hearts were made to be broken; ditto the constraints of genres. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; text-indent: 28.8px; font: 12.0px 'Times New Roman'}
