Help no one. Show no mercy. Stay alive.

Lehana Saar learned the smuggler's trade the hard way--as an indentured servant to the Rim’s most notorious pirate. With the skills she acquired and now with her own ship, the star freighter Phoenix, Lehana is known throughout the Rim as a trafficker who will take any job, however dangerous, for the promise of a good profit. But when she's forced to crash land near a mining colony owned by the heinous, galactic cartel QueCorp, she'll need all her cunning and experience just to survive. And maybe, with a little luck, she might even turn a profit by forging a deal with the mine's owners. That is if she can turn a blind eye to the dismal conditions and merciless exploitation of the thousands of QueCorp's slave laborers.

Forty-five years ago Kash Trider and his wife crashed on Ydro-Down. Captured by QueCorp, they were forced into the mines with no chance of release. Qubition ore killed Kash's wife and now only two things keep him going: his hatred of QueCorp and the hope of freeing his two children from the same fate. When the Phoenix crashes near the mine, Kash risks everything to get his children on that ship. But will the hard-edged captain help him escape or will she turn him in for the five million DIC price on the head of a fugitive QueCorp slave?

About the author

Maggie is an idealistic nerd with a romantic streak that surpasses any scientific explanation. Writing stories and making music has been a part of her DNA as long as she can remember. As a child she wanted to learn EVERYTHING, and as fast as possible. She wanted to know how a car engine worked and what made people tick. She organized children to re-enact her favorite movies in the backyard and wrote stories and plays about worlds she’d never seen.

Her love of life-long learning has garnered degrees in psychology, counseling, computer science, and culminated in an Ed.D. in Education. Though not seeking any more degrees, she loves learning more about physics and cosmology and it’s relationship to culture and faith. Before retirement, Maggie had a career in academia, as well as opportunities to consult in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.

Though her past career provided many exciting and rewarding times, she is now doing what she'd dreamed of doing since the 4th grade—writing stories that entertain, share her love of learning, and that remake the world into what she wants it to be. With more than 20 titles now published, she is well on her way to reaching that dream. All of Maggie's fiction is character driven and reinforces that life is about making heroic choices one messy moment at a time.

Maggie and her husband have settled in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, in the United States, where she now writes full-time. Her fiction spans romance, suspense, science fiction, and fantasy titles. Her current non-fiction work focuses on helping career authors succeed in the business and technical side of writing and publishing.

The eighth book in the NYT bestselling Expanse series, Tiamat's Wrath finds the crew of the Rocinante fighting an underground war against a nearly invulnerable authoritarian empire, with James Holden a prisoner of the enemy. Now a Prime Original series.
Thirteen hundred gates have opened to solar systems around the galaxy. But as humanity builds its interstellar empire in the alien ruins, the mysteries and threats grow deeper.
In the dead systems where gates lead to stranger things than alien planets, Elvi Okoye begins a desperate search to discover the nature of a genocide that happened before the first human beings existed, and to find weapons to fight a war against forces at the edge of the imaginable. But the price of that knowledge may be higher than she can pay.
At the heart of the empire, Teresa Duarte prepares to take on the burden of her father's godlike ambition. The sociopathic scientist Paolo Cortázar and the Mephistophelian prisoner James Holden are only two of the dangers in a palace thick with intrigue, but Teresa has a mind of her own and secrets even her father the emperor doesn't guess.
And throughout the wide human empire, the scattered crew of the Rocinante fights a brave rear-guard action against Duarte's authoritarian regime. Memory of the old order falls away, and a future under Laconia's eternal rule -- and with it, a battle that humanity can only lose -- seems more and more certain. Because against the terrors that lie between worlds, courage and ambition will not be enough...

Undertones – Michele’s Story

She’s chosen music over men. He prefers casual to committed. Will their shared passion strike a life-changing chord?

Music is the love of Michele Scott’s life. As the lead singer and bassist of an all-female band, touring means lots of sisterhood and no time for men. But when she meets David at a concert, her heart begins to change its tune…

David Blackstone thinks romantic obligations are for fools. As a fiercely independent self-made millionaire, he’s content with casual flings. But when he offers his spare concert ticket to a pretty stranger, he finds himself wondering if his solo life might be better sung as a duet.

As their strong feelings crescendo, David’s pushy style and Michele’s struggle to move past her ex’s abuse, put their happy ending in jeopardy. Can two willful souls overcome their stubbornness to write their love song, or will their rising passion end on a sour note?

Healing Notes – Rachel’s Story

She plays the fiddle to soothe her pain. He writes poetry to confront his past. Will two wounded hearts turn their laments into love?

Rachel Cullen’s music is her therapy. Playing the fiddle with her all-female Americana band is her only escape from the specters of the past. When her newest student’s father attends a lesson, Rachel’s heavy heart skips a beat, but she fears she might be too broken to start again…

Divorcee Noel Karshaw wants only the best role models around his precocious five-year-old girl. Careful not to repeat his past mistakes, he avoids all women with emotional baggage. And while his daughter’s new music teacher is indeed lovely, the wounded woman doesn’t meet his exacting standards. So why can’t he stop thinking about her?

As their attraction becomes impossible to ignore, they’re the only ones who can decide how their love song ends. Will Rachel and Noel overcome their tragic pasts together, or will their bittersweet ballad fall flat?

Sarah Cosgrave escaped her alcoholic father’s depression by losing herself in her music and her faith. Playing guitar with Sweetwater Canyon gives her the loving family she never had. But when her ex-boyfriend shows up with unwelcome news, can her conviction sustain her on her long journey home?

As the musician watches Tom care for her ailing father, she sees how much her ex has changed since he broke her heart.
