Sobrepasó a sus contemporáneos, fue leído y admirado por las generaciones posteriores y, aún hoy, continúa irradiando lucidez hacia el futuro. Fígaro vivió plenamente en su tiempo convulso, y en su piel hipersensible, y sufrió las consecuencias de haberse atrevido a decir, si no todo -"el saber mucho no ha de ser para decirlo todo, sino para saber lo que se ha de decir"-, sí al menos esa palabra imprescindible de cada día que toda sociedad necesita oír en su voz más crítica y más autocrítica. Esa fue la voz de Larra.
