While the plot itself is pretty standard, the characters are not, and the emotion jumps right off the pages as they navigate a relationship that neither of them were necessarily looking for. Skyler is patient and giving for as long as she can be, and Mason navigates the hurdles in his own heart as best he can. His “grand gesture” late in the book is both sweet and heartbreaking, knowing just how difficult it was for him to even attempt such a simple thing. Of course, my favorite moment in the book was his deal with Tristan there toward the end. Sure, it didn't have a whole lot to do with Mason and Skyler, other than making him get off his butt and chase down what he wanted, but it just goes to show how invested I am now in the Lawson clan! Love So Irresistible, by Marquita Valentine, is the third book in her Lawson Brother’s series. In this story we meet Navy Seal Mason Lawson and piano teacher Skylar Jernigan. Skylar has moved next door to Mason who is recovering from PTSD and other injuries sustained in combat. Skylar is teaching music the town’s children, nut the noise is driving Mason nuts. He can’t handle the loudness. These two characters are both broken and need help in healing, which Ms. Valentine allows to happen as the story progresses. It’s not just the chemistry between Mason & Skylar that creates this wonderful story. Then there is the way each wants to help the other live, love, and gain that needed confidence to trust one another. Skylar buys noise reducing headphones for Mason. Mason pays to have her air conditioning repaired so Skylar can close the windows. Skylar buys too much food and shares it with Mason, so he will eat. Mason takes Skylar out on his boat and swimming in the ocean, teaching her to relax. Skylar is a gift musician and Mason shows her that there is more to life. I really enjoyed revisiting with the people of the town of Jessamine, including the McCoy sisters and Brody’s

Amazing addition to the Lawson Brothers series. I loved Mason, faults and all, and think sweet, kind Skylar is the perfect match for him. He's an ex seal, home from the war a bit broken and a whole lot bitter. She's kindness and firmness and is willing to show him all the things he's missing by not living his life. Great writing and characters make this a book no one should miss. I highly recommend it.
