The book is written in three parts.
Part I covers the basics of meditation: Introduction to meditation and tips to cultivate a sustained and rewarding meditation practice.
Part II covers six breathing techniques. I highly recommend practicing these breathing techniques before meditation.
Part III covers 25 meditation techniques that can help prevent and manage lifestyle conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, and sleep problems and create a life of clarity, harmony, and purpose. The first 15 meditations are done through witnessing, breathing, visualization, and chanting. The following ten meditations incorporate witnessing and contemplation. They touch upon various qualities we ought to have to live a better life.
Towards the end of the book is a glossary of Sanskrit words used in the book. There is also a Sanskrit pronunciation guide. It provides some guidelines for pronouncing Sanskrit vowels and consonants correctly.
Yogi Arvind Chittumalla (Aravindu Chittumalla) is a spiritual teacher, writer, entrepreneur, and filmmaker. He was first introduced to the different limbs of yoga in his childhood around the age of 10, almost 35 years ago. Over time he learnt from many schools and traditions in India and USA:
Krishnamurthy Foundation
Satyachetana International
Self-Realization Fellowship
Mahayana Buddhist schools
Self-study of Shaivism, Yoga, Sāmkhya, and Vedānta.
Beginning in his 20s, he embraced a yogic lifestyle that integrates all the eight limbs of Rāja Yoga, as prescribed by the sage Patanjali around 500 BC.
He has taught many aspects of Rāja Yoga, such as Meditation, Prānāyama (breathwork), Yoga Philosophy, Sanskrit, and Chanting, since 2007. He uses several meditation techniques during his classes, depending on the needs of the students and their level of practice, such as breath-based meditations, visualizations, analytical (contemplative) meditations, Vipassana (mindfulness), chakra meditations, mantra-based meditations, Yoga Nidra, and more. He advises people from different walks of life about using yogic principles to create a healthy, peaceful, and harmonious life.
