Deze norm helpt u ook in 2019 bij het inrichten, beheren en verbeteren van het Security Management Systeem (SMS) van uw organisatie. 

Security wordt in deze norm gedefinieerd als het samenstel van maatregelen en middelen die zorgen voor de veiligheid van personen en de beveiliging van de organisatie tegen moedwillig  menselijk handelen. 

Het SMS wordt beschreven als een bedrijfsproces dat is gebaseerd op een risicobenadering en de Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)-cyclus, en is opgesteld volgens de High Level Structure voor managementsystemen van ISO. Deze structuur zorgt voor transparantie en vereenvoudigde integratie  met andere op ISO-normen gebaseerde managementsystemen. 

Deze norm regelt de bescherming van alle delen, processen, personen, terreinen, objecten, infrastructuren, netwerken, systemen, materiële en immateriële eigendommen en belangen van een organisatie. 

De norm richt zich op strategische, operationele, procedurele, organisatorische, tactische, fysieke en communicatie aspecten van beveiliging

The National Security Advisory Centre (NSAC) also known as Adviescentrum Bescherming Vitale Infrastructuur (ABVI) was founded in May 2010 in The Netherlands and has extensive expertise in Security Risk Management, Terrorist Threat and Risk Assessments and Mitigation, Business Continuity Management, Insider Threats, Emergency and Crisis Management, IT and SCADA Security, and Disaster Recovery. 

NSAC supports operators of National Critical Infrastructure, Government Agencies, Municipalities, Industry Associations and Private Companies in protecting critical assets and infrastructures.
Marcel Spit is the founder of NSAC and has drafted the first edition of the USMS Standard. The draft was discussed in detail, reviewed and adjusted by the USMS Standard Review Committee consisting of senior Security professionals including certified Security experts of ASIS International - Benelux Chapter and the Association of Security Professionals of The Netherlands (VBN).
