The Stone Key

Natasha Brown

Nimrod Vale used to think he was the unluckiest kid alive. His mother’s death seemed proof enough of that. But, since discovering his grandpa’s magical fountain pen and its ability to transport him into handwritten stories, he’s had other things on his mind. Like the fact that his grandpa disappeared without a trace three years ago. Nim suspects his grandpa is still alive, but trapped in one of his own fables.

With the help of his constant companion, the ever-talkative Pepper, Nim plans to enter his first story. When Pepper doesn’t show up, he decides to start the quest without her. Alone in a fantasy world that seems perfect at first, Nim finds nothing but dead ends. If he wants to discover any trace of his grandpa, he’ll need courage and the support of a friend—even if that friend isn’t talking to him anymore.

What People Are Saying-

"Love, Love, Love this book!
I really enjoyed this book. The romance was slow paced yet beautifully crafted. Its refreshing to see young adults taking their time to know each before assuming an instant relationship. The heroine learns to accept her dire circumstances and approaches life with new found hope. The hero is patient, yet willful and strong, when it comes to taking care of all he holds dear. Together they have a natural and loving bond, that will gracefully transcend into the years to come."

"I had a great time reading this book! ... I didn't see that coming!"

"I am a firm believer that you can never hear too many good things and I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your book... I can not wait to see what you have next. I hope you intend to finish the sequel/series. I hate not knowing how things end."

Book Description:

Set apart from other eighteen year olds, Ana Hughes knows she is different. A life threatening heart condition smothers her future and she yearns to feel normal. Her hopes are pinned on a fresh start in a remote town far from her native Colorado. Among the locker filled hallways in Clark Bend High, Ana keeps to the shadows, not wanting to draw attention to her violet tinged lips and wilted silhouette. And she almost succeeds, until she meets Chance Morgan.

Struggling to keep up appearances, she soon suspects Chance is hiding something as well. His animal-like senses, miraculous healing ability and peculiar reaction to her Thunderbird necklace compels Ana to question if there’s more to the stories about his Navajo ancestry. Without any other explanation, she fears he is playing tricks on her. But the truth may prove too much for Ana’s delicate heart…

It’s Leif’s eighth summer going viking with his father on their ship the Kraken—and he’s had enough. For as long as Leif can remember, his father has claimed to be a descendant of Ægir, god of the sea, and has exploited their shape changing ability—all this to amass enough gold to gain entrance into the ocean god’s halls. Leif hopes that time’s drawing near so he can free himself from Ragna’s domineering shadow.

On the green hills of Éire, Eilish is content learning traditional folk cures from her father until a Finn-Gall raid disturbs the peace. Desperate to protect Eilish from harm, her father cuts her hair and disguises her in his old clothing before she’s ripped from the only home she’s ever known. Sold as a thrall in Duiblinn, she must hide out as a young man on a ship full of barbarians.

Now Eilish, who fears she’ll become Ægir’s next sacrifice, and Leif, who isn’t prepared to stand up against his father’s powerful wrath, must face the tides of change—no matter how ominous they may seem.

On the western highlands of Scotland, a springtime storm pummels the coast while Kristie’s brother is out fishing. When he fails to return home, Kristie turns away from her list of chores to search the loch in an effort to ease her pregnant sister-in-law’s fears. Instead of finding Domnall, she discovers a naked and battered man washed up on shore and worries he could be a thieving reiver or worse—an Englishman.

When the handsome outsider wakes, he is unable to remember who he is or how he came to be there. Although the feisty and melancholy Kristie isn't keen on him remaining, her young neighbor, Jock, takes to the playful stranger and names Creag after the rocky crags where the loch meets the sea. Not long after the lad speaks of selkies, magical seals who shed their skins to live as humans, Creag dreams he is swimming deep beneath the waves.

Kristie is desperate to keep the farm running for her missing brother while Creag's sleep is filled with strange visions--glimpses that may reveal secrets to his past, but he may soon wish they were only a dream.
