This second volume, with the imaginative title of ‘More writing about music’, is similar to the first, a collection of gig and album reviews, interviews with ‘pop stars’ and a mish mash of other oddities. Includes interviews with Paul Carrack, Tom Smith, John Flansburgh (They Might Be Giants), Geoff Downes (Yes), Meilyr Jones, Frank Allen (The Searchers), Scorpio (Grandmaster’s Furious Five featuring Mele Mel and Scorpio), Glenn Gregory (Heaven 17) and Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub).

And (by the way, I regularly start sentences with ‘and’. If you’re easily offended, please look away) there are some excerpts from another book that’s in the pipeline. Quite a long way down the pipeline if I can be brutally honest.
Our guide is the young Jacopo Caneva, who puts forward a personal selection of musical extracts for a first listening experience, analysing them with the passion and competence of a teenager who loves and practises music.
This is where authors meet, with different styles and historical backgrounds, sharing the will to be revolutionary and ahead of their time.
A journey that winds from Mussorgsky to Berlioz, from Debussy to Handel, Danny Elfman and Joe Hisaishi, some of the most beloved composers of two great film directors of our time, Tim Burton and Hayao Miyazaki.
