About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A one-of-a-kind novel that grapples with the supernatural mysteries of life, death, and human connection—an unprecedented collaboration between the globally bestselling author of love stories like The Notebook and the renowned writer and director of blockbuster thrillers like The Sixth Sense

COMING SOON AS A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE DIRECTED BY M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN AND STARRING JAKE GYLLENHAAL AND PHOEBE DYNEVOR

When New York architect Tate Donovan arrives in Cape Cod to design his best friend’s summer home, he is hoping to make a fresh start. Recently discharged from an upscale psychiatric facility where he was treated for acute depression, he is still wrestling with the pain of losing his beloved sister. Sylvia’s deathbed revelation—that she can see spirits who are still tethered to the living world, a gift that runs in their family—sits uneasily with Tate, who struggles to believe in more than what reason can explain. But when he takes up residence at a historic bed-and-breakfast on the Cape, he encounters a beautiful young woman named Wren who will challenge every assumption he has about his logical and controlled world.

Tate and Wren find themselves forging an immediate connection, one that neither has ever experienced before. But Tate gradually discovers that below the surface of Wren’s idyllic small-town life, hatred, jealousy, and greed are festering, threatening their fragile relationship just as it begins to blossom. Tate realizes that in order to free Wren from an increasingly desperate fate, he will need to unearth the truth about her past before time runs out . . . a quest that will make him doubt whether we can ever believe the stories we tell about ourselves, and the laws that govern our existence. Love—while transformative—can sometimes be frightening.

A story about the power of transcendent emotion, Remain asks us all: Can love set us free not only from our greatest sorrows, but even from the boundaries of life and death?

Can't believe I wasted time on this drivel. Was there even an editor? So much repeating, and parts that just make no sense. This is NOT a horror. The MC Tate is an absolutely worthless man. He can't cook, do laundry or figure out a fuse box? Who runs around town accusing people of murder and gets away with it? Then says in the end they probably wouldn't want to see him. You think? Amateur mistakes like the ghost clearly telling him that her grandma died 3 years ago right at the start of covid. Then on the next page he's wondering if the ghost is still stuck in 2023 (2 years ago). TF? Obviously! the plot of the book is just stupid anyway who falls in love with a ghost? LOL. Also, no one wears white yoga pants! Killers are predictable in the 1st part of the book. Save your braincells, no one intelligent would like this rubbish.

A paranormal mystery to ponder as you read. The ghost of a young woman was found dead in her bathroom. Her presence takes form when an architect rents the house. They grow close as he grapples with the mystery of her death. Was it an accident or murder? The end is crazy good. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one completely consumed me. The characters felt so vivid and alive, even when the story drifted into something otherworldly. Sparks takes romance to a different plane here, quiet, haunting, and deeply human. It’s less of a tearjerker than his usual books for me, but still left me misty eyed. I loved watching love, loss, and mystery intertwine so seamlessly. I could not put this book down.
