About this ebook

Read the first two books in the Fearless Women Historical Romance Series by best-selling author Nina Beaumont.

Gutsy heroines and dashing heroes. Love, passion, and sensuality. Intrigue, rebellion, and revolution. A thrilling journey through 19th century Europe, packed with vivid, true-to-life historical detail.

SAPPHIRE MAGIC is a Regency set during the Congress of Vienna in 1814/15. It brings British aristocrat Arabella Douglas to Vienna, where she falls in love with Count Ferdinand (Nando) Berg. But as Shakespeare said, the course of true love never did run smooth.

Headstrong Arabella is convinced that Nando is the man with whom she wants to spend the rest of her life. But Nando has become a cynic from years of war and deception, and Arabella has her work cut out for her.

PROMISES TO KEEP is the story of Count Maximilian Berg, the eldest son of Arabella and Nando, who falls in love with American singer Felicity Allen. How can a man leading a perilous double life prove to a woman who has experienced trauma that she will be safe with him?

As the revolution of 1848 unfolds in Vienna, Max and Felicity must not only vanquish their ghosts and find a way to each other, but they must struggle to survive in world fraught with danger and betrayal.

Glimpse into Early 1800s Vienna It's kind of funny, but I happened to read books 3 and 4 of this series before I read the first two books (the ones included here in this collection). I particularly liked the first book, and the way it opens clearly shows the heroine's sense of adventure and happiness to be in Vienna. The first book takes place in the Regency Era, and the heroine is actually an Englishwoman visiting Vienna. The author does a superb job of showing us Vienna during that time period; the descriptions make you feel like you are there. The second book in this collection takes place in Vienna as well but during the Victorian period, as the hero is the son of the couple of the previous book. I so enjoy generational romances like that that take place in a series like this. The writing itself felt a little weak in places, but it was strong in the ways I've mentioned. The author does a great job incorporating actual history and some real people into the books. I like that the author has chosen to look at events and times in the early 1800s in places we don't typically see in historical romance. If you enjoy historical romances that are a little out of the ordinary, you may very well enjoy this collection of two books. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Interesting stories. The first book Sapphire Magic took place in Vienna during the Congress of Vienna. This is not an event most of the historicals I read incorporated so I enjoyed learning about it. I also enjoyed the author’s notes at the beginning of the book. It was a good story about Nando and Arabella and I enjoyed reading it but the villain is so evil gang the villain made the story! The second book deals with an American singer in 1848 Vienna the characters are caught up in the Austrian revolution. Maximilian and Felicity face true danger as these wounded souls find each other. It is a good story but I did not care for the ending. Now let me be honest both books are very well written, very descriptive, and will keep you reading till the end yet there is something about the books that bother me and for the life of me, I cannot tell you what it is. I did receive a free copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it.

Nina Beaumont was born in Salzburg, Austria, home to Mozart and the Von Trapp family. She is of Russian descent, and her family tree includes the Stroganoff family, Count Zhubov, who is reputed to have been Catherine the Great's last lover, and several other interesting historical characters. She grew up in Massachusetts, USA, and has lived in Seattle, WA, but being an inveterate traveler, she has moved back and forth between US and Austria all her life--besides other interesting travels.

She started writing as a child (one of her early "works" was a 25-page sequel to GONE WITH THE WIND), and she worked for many years as a translator and editor. Her life-long interest in history and her fluency in several languages have been of great help in the in-depth research she does for her books, which includes traveling to where the stories are set.

She now lives in Austria, and she is thrilled to be back working full time on her European-set historical romances. Whenever she can pry herself away from her computer, she is liable to be indulging one of her passions--reading, cooking, classical music, and traveling. One of these days, she's going to get back to painting watercolors.
