Ole Roelof Börgdahl wurde am 23.05.1971 in Skellefteå, Schweden, geboren. Er wuchs in Skellefteå, Malmö und Lübeck auf. Das Lesen ist für Ole R. Börgdahl ein wichtiges Element des Schreibens. "Ich habe keine Lieblingsbücher, ich kann aber Bücher nennen, die mich beeindruckt haben. Hierzu gehört der Zyklus Rougon-Macquart von Émile Zola und Suite Francaise von Irène Némirovsky. Bei Zola gefällt mir die reiche Sprache, bei Suite Francaise hat mich das Schicksal von Irène Némirovsky bewegt."
