This is book one in The Fable of Happiness Trilogy and it is the beginning of Kass and Gemma's story and omg it is intense, dark, intriguing, heart breaking, great chemistry and characters that blow you away your mind and so addictive that it is a real page turner that you can't put down and even though this is the first book in this Trilogy I can't wait to read the rest and see what will happen next. Pepper Winters is the queen of dark romance and she always takes you on a journey that you can't and won't get off as she keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next and you are never disappointed as every single one of her books are true masterpiece's. Pepper Winters is an incredible author and writer and there are twists and turns along the way and just when you think that you understand what is happening another twist will turn everything on it's head and what a cliff hanger ending. Pepper Winters is an incredible author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention. You really need to read this book but just remember that it is not a standalone book and you will need to read the next two books to complete this tri but it is definitely worth reading. Book One Brutal – Heed the Warning Up front, this book comes with warnings and trigger notices, Read the warnings… I read the warnings and oh boy! This was mostly tough reading, but one I simply glad to have read. I must also commend perfect editing and flawless, sophisticated writing. I am always attracted to books with independent heroine characters with unusual careers and or personalities, Enter Gemma Ashcroft who is a self-made millionaire and is an international climber/mountaineer. Ms Winters gives exquisite details of climbs and equipment throughout the book. Above was the easy part… Enter Kassen, mentally and physically drowning in scars, brutal, angry with little to no emotional control and DANGEROUS. The interaction between Gemma and Kassen is explosive, hateful, and traumatizing. Yes, I did say this is a tough read. Ms Winters records all of this in gasping, graphic detail. “His dark eyes bounced between palpable lust, explicit hate, downright disgust, and absolute turmoil”. This line could be my attempt to describe this book including unimaginable sexual content. I could not stop reading; its beyond dark, it is downright challenging! Yeah, it ends on a “CLIFF-hanger”. Usually, I can’t wait for the second book, but this time I will take it – I need breathing space… Find me more stars – this book deserves it and more.

How does one even move on from this cliffhanger? Pepper Winters never fails to make me want to pull out my hair. There is always so much raw emotion in her books and her broken characters. She has a gift. I'm not entirely sure how I'll survive the next eight stories of the fable kids. Fable of Happiness, itself, is a trilogy. This one is only the first book and I'm already banging my head on the wall.😂 Gemma and Kassen are both stubborn as heck. They don't back down from tearing each other apart with words and actions. Gemma is on full-on survival mode while battling her inner feelings and attraction to Kass, as he keeps her captive in his mansion. Kass, himself, is battling through his childhood trauma coming back to him in his memories as Gemma’s presence lets them all loose. From the very moment the meet - in Gemma’s trespassing on his valley - he’s keen to kill her or keep her. He’s used to living in solidarity for over a decade. His intentions of keeping Gemma captive to keep people away has evolved into something else. Something he’s not ready to take mind into. No matter how much Gemma pushes him to realize that what relationship they have now has feelings involved. Gemma is a self-made woman in society. She’s not used to living alone, unlike Kass. She’s ready to bolt the moment she sees the chance to. But she can’t help but wonder if Kass feels those same sparks she does when they touch.
