About this ebook

Will the masked outlaw who stole LuciaÕs locket also claim her heart?

When Miss Lucia Foxe is robbed by a band of shadowy highwaymen, she does not realize this frightening event will change her life forever. Her brave quest to retrieve her stolen locket brings her into close contact with the thieves and their dashing and fearless masked leader, Len Hawkins. But there is more to Len than meets the eye. Beneath the robberÕs mask lies a woman who, in her heart, is not really so very different from Lucia.

As their unlikely love grows against the backdrop of the poverty and violent protest of Regency England, Lucia learns how much more there is to the world than her upbringing has taught her. Len flirts with death every day, and eventually, an attempt at exacting revenge on her cruel father threatens to snatch her from LuciaÕs arms.

Will Len survive her encounter with death and avoid the retribution of the agents of justice? And can respectable gentlewoman Lucia love Len enough to sacrifice everything she knows?

About the author

Rebecca S. Buck has lived in Nottingham, England most of her life. She was accepted by the University of Oxford to read History, but soon found that something inside her rebelled against such a rarified academic environment and left to return to her hometown. She graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2004 with a degree in English Studies. She hopes to return to study at postgraduate level in the near future, with a specific interest in Romantic and nineteenth century literature from a gender/queer perspective. She is fascinated by the relationship between literature and culture, especially in a historical context, and the importance of fiction for representing the human experience. This is partly what inspires her to write. Rebecca remembers writing stories and poems from a very young age. Creating fiction is her outlet for an over-active imagination and a propensity for spending far too much time absorbed in her own thoughts. She firmly believes that a good book is defined by how much a reader enjoys it, over and above any other merits it might have. When she's not writing, Rebecca is usually to be found reading (any book anyone recommends to her) or listening to music (the louder the better). She also loves to travel, especially to the beautiful cities of Europe, and has, since 2005, spent much of her time in Slovenia in central Europe, where she has worked as a private tutor at the same time as trying to renovate two houses.
