Ho Hum -- This is book 2 of this series, and you definitely should read the first book before attempting this one. I had not, so I definitely felt like I came in the middle of the story, and in particular, the romance. This comes across as vaguely medieval fantasy, as so much fantasy seems to be, yet the author didn't quite give the world the majesty it should have. Nor was the language as elevated as it should be; far too many contemporary words and phrases slipped in that pulled me out of the story. The book certainly has some villains, but the author made them far too dark without a hint of light. Even villains should have shades to their characters. The beginning also had some info-dumping; head-hopping within a scene was also prevalent, which I never liked to see in a book. All in all, I found myself disappointed with this book. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

The second book in the Penelope's Dragon series a carry-on from the first book. Which I have not read, but I was able to understand what was happening in this part. Princess Penelope and Dragon-Wizard Salarath's story of suspense, betrayal, drama, danger, magic, villains, twists, turns, and romance. I enjoyed reading. This is a new Author to me. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
