Sarah Baethge was born in Houston in 1982. She grew up in Texas and Louisiana. She graduated with a national merit scholarship in 2000. In the summer after high school, she was an intern for Lockheed-Martin and got to work on computers at NASA Houston. In November of 2000 she was in a car wreck that left her in a coma for 6 months.
