THE WHORE OF AKRON: One Man's Search for the Soul of LeBron James An embittered, lifelong Cleveland fan chronicles the painful departure of LeBron James from the Cavaliers, taking stock of his own life in the process.Among long-suffering fan bases, Cleveland sports fans can make a legitimate claim to the top spot. With no championships to celebrate since the Browns won the NFL Championship in 1964 (in the pre-Super Bowl era), they have suffered an ignominious
American capitalism at its best. No need for this derogatory media.
Great You don't have to be from cleveland to understand the pain the writer feels. I have no idea why people say that. All in all, I believe this was a masterpiece. If you truly read this and paid attention, you would see that the author puts himself down as much as he does lebron. He knows he has issues for feeling the way he does, and he explores those issues thoroughly. Brilliant imo. Great and quick read.
Rambling and provocative I'd recommend this book to anyone from Northeast Ohio who likes basketball. Outside of that niche world, it would be really hard to understand the fury that the author espouses throughout this book. Well written, and engaging, it's obvious the author is an extremely talented writer.
Bitter, bitter man If I would have read this before LeBron won back to back championships and 3 of 4 mvps I might have felt the same as the author. I have never been to Cleveland and so know none of the misery of being a fan there. I didn't like the decision either but all of the total hatred for LeBron by the author is easy over the top. Entertaining though, for sure.
Pathetic I wonder if Cleveland fans have ever heard of a thing called Karma. Keep stooping to levels as low as this and not only will you people not win championships but you'll also continue to live in the septic tank of America.
