Are Our Children Becoming a Different Species?

What Role Will Genetic Engineering Play?

In book one of the Kindred Series, research geneticist, Lionel Adams and his old college roommate, Flip MacDougal combined to create a scientific breakthrough in the customary fashion of such breakthroughs — by accident. From that accident arose the Kindred: seven girls from Flip’s overly active social life, and twins, Alp and Mel, a product of a clandestine seduction by Flip’s spiritual guide, Madame Sarrah.

It soon becomes evident from the research being conducted on them at Bio Vita Tech that these are unique children with incredible survival skills and special abilities beyond anything previously seen in our species. But no one enjoys being treated as a research specimen, particularly not the children of the Kindred.

Mel and Alp develop a plan to rescue their sisters from Bio Vita Tech; a plan that goes horrendously wrong. But the twins are, if nothing else, innovative when it comes to their survival skills. Unfortunately, the Kindred find themselves in the world run by greed and a hunger for power — a world not welcoming to a new species of human being.

Seeds of a New Power is the second book in Orrin Jason Bradford’s Kindred series, science fiction technothrillers with a hint of romance. If you like Michael Crichton, Dean Koontz’s early fiction, and Hugh Howey, then you’ll love this series. It’s a character-driven, action-adventure story about an all-too-possible future where the highly volatile formula of genetic engineering coupled with corporate and personal greed threatens the course of human evolution and perhaps mankind's very existence.

A top-secret investigation on a secluded mountaintop and a mystery that will rock the world

In 1993, a remote North Carolina mountaintop is the site of an event destined to change the course of mankind and Earth itself, discovered and investigated by Pat Vogt, a junior member of the Bureau of Investigation of Unidentified Flying Objects. A slight woman with a hard streak of determination that would put larger men to shame, Pat insists on being dropped into the remote wilderness area, a feat her pilot thinks is insane, but for Pat, it's all in a day's work. It brings her face to face with Earth’s first verifiable UFO and sets into motion a series of events that not only threatens her life but destroys her career.

Ten years later, Pat, now a private investigator, returns to the nearby town of Waynesboro to try to put the nightmarish events that happened on that mountaintop to rest. Waynesboro is larger now, but the mountains are the same and the mystery surrounding them just as puzzling. A chance encounter leads her to Dr. Allan Pritchard, the town's small animal vet with secrets of his own.

Ellenore preferred a quiet life leaving the romance to her fictional characters. Unfortunately, her Muse had different plans.

When spinster and romance author Ellenore Mishner discovers the Muse sleeping on her porch, her first mistake is to invite it into her home where it takes up residence in the spare bedroom that doubles as her writing nook.

With the help of Ellenore’s lifelong invisible friend, the Muse encourages her to live a little.

“How can you expect to write stories about life, love and romance when you've hardly lived, much less loved or experienced romance?” the Muse had said as it eyed her fridge on that first day.

“What…what are you talking about?” She'd asked indignantly. “I'm forty-seven years old.  That's plenty of life.”

“No, that's plenty of time,” the Muse replied heading to the fridge. “Plenty of time to have lived, but you've sequestered yourself in this tiny cottage for most it.  It's time for Ellenore Mishner to get out and live a bit.  Who knows, maybe there's even a little love and romance in your future.”

Ellenore attends the Bingham's Circus and Sideshows where her life takes a dramatic turn when she falls for the handsome and debonair lion tamer, Royce Royal.

If you’re a fan of such contemporary fantasy stories as appeared on The Twilight Zone and those told by writers like Ray Bradbury and Neil Gaiman, you’ll feel right at home in Ellenore’s hometown of Foster Flat where meeting a Muse on your porch isn’t all that unusual.

Under the watchful eyes of the shadowy soldiers of the Patriarchy government, Jason retraces the missteps of a man who’s quite unsure if he’s ready to fold. Early Reviews

Easily a new classic

Normally I either power read through an entire book or read it over a month as a casual read. This story captured me from the first chapter, I had to force myself to stop halfway through it to digest the concepts and story. Upon restarting it the next day I found that I was even re-reading a couple of chapters from before where I left off just to refresh my memory so I did not miss a single nuance of the story.

I loved it!!!

From the concept to your descriptive writing, you had me hooked from the beginning. Yes, space-themed novels appeal to me, but I am sure anyone could find something they love about this book.

The Plot Thickens

I loved the book! The storyline was great. The characters believable. I really liked the characters of Jason, Seattle, and Tinker. Mu-monk was absolutely the best character to me! Can't wait till the next book. I really hope this is the start of a great series.
