"Should you care to laugh while you read a murder mystery this would be a number one choice, as you rollick along toward a surprising end."--Rendezvous

Sexy, suspenseful, and snarky, Sheryl J. Anderson's slick debut novel introduces advice columnist Molly Forrester as she faces off against the magazine world, Manhattan's singles scene, and cold-blooded murder . . .

Molly Forrester enjoys playing a "Dear Abby" type for Zeitgeist, a Manhattan glossy, while she seeks her break in serious journalism. She's always hoped opportunity would knock, not throw itself at her feet–but then she literally stumbles over a colleague's body. Now her chance to get closer to real news cannot be denied, as she stares at her spoiled Jimmy Choos planted firmly in a pool of blood . . .

Molly recruits trusty besties Cassady and Tricia to help her solve the crime. But she's competing with and distracted by the gorgeous homicide detective on the case. And competing with Peter, her pretentious boyfriend and journo-rival. After a second name is brutally struck from the masthead, Molly investigates and stumbles again. This time, it's onto dangerous secrets within Zeitgeist's ranks. Now, her involvement in this deadly chaos might just cost her a whole lot more than a pair of to-die-for heels.

"Sparkles like fine champagne, an intoxicating mix of wit, perception, and insouciance, and a wickedly clever but genuine depiction of single life in the city."--Carolyn Hart, author of Murder Walks the Plank

About the author

Sheryl Anderson's childhood ambition was to be a novelist. In college, her love of theatre led her to study playwriting. After graduation, she set her sights on television, writing first for comedies (series such as Parker Lewis Can't Lose and Dave's World), and then for dramas (Charmed and Flash Gordon) and television movies (The Town That Came A'Courtin'). Most recently, she created and executive produced Ties That Bind, the first original scripted series for UPtv. Throughout this journey, the desire to write a novel never went away, leading to the Molly Forrester novels, a series of mysteries in which Sex and the City meets Murder, She Wrote. These Manhattan murder mysteries--Killer Heels, Killer Cocktail, Killer Deal, Killer Riff--blend all the things Sheryl loves most: comedy, dramatic intrigue, and snappy dialogue. Sheryl lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Mark E. Parrott, and their two children. Sheryl is also an adjunct faculty member in the MFA program in Screenwriting at Pepperdine University and a co-founder of The Poiema Project, a television writers' workshop.

"Anderson, a TV producer, depicts Molly, Manhattan and terminally cool suspects with a refreshing hilarity. . . ."--Publishers Weekly

"Fashion commentary, urbane asides, and witty characters keep the pages turning."--Library Journal

They say love is easier the second time around: You'd think solving a mystery would be, too. But Molly Forrester finds both to be less than true in this sassy sequel to her first adventure, Killer Heels.

Molly's journalism career is stalled. Solving the murder of a colleague in Killer Heels hasn't led to bigger and better opportunities as quickly as she'd hoped. Instead, she's still writing her popular advice column for Zeitgeist magazine, now under a new editor. Stalled too is Molly's relationship with Detective Kyle Edwards. Perhaps meeting over a dead body isn't the best way to build a romance after all.

When her best friends, Tricia Vincent and Cassady Lynch, suggest a trip to the Hamptons, Molly seizes the chance to get away from her worries for a while. But what starts as an entertaining, champagne-filled weekend of "sipping and sniping" at the ultra-rich explodes into disaster with a dead guest of honor, a blue-blooded family feud, a jealous lover or three, and a murder investigation that stretches back to Manhattan and strains Molly and Kyle almost to the breaking point. And through it all, Molly must contend with an icy female homicide investigator who may be competing with Molly on more than a professional level.

With a penchant for saying the right thing--even if at the wrong time--and the enthusiastic help of her two devoted friends, Molly Forrester tackles another murder with zest and style. But will her sharp wit and droll insight be enough to protect those she cares about most? Sheryl J. Anderson whips up another sexy cocktail that's equal parts comedy, mystery, and romance. This heady brew takes the sting out of the greatest mystery of all--how to keep love alive in the big city.

"Her delightful series . . . reverberates with wit, style, and superb characterization."--Mystery Scene
"This 'Sleuth in the City' stays on her toes as Anderson keeps the story lighthearted and fast-paced"--Publishers Weekly

"Elements of chick lit--the New York setting, the many brand names, lots of shopping, the emphasis on relationship problems--give the novel appeal beyond mystery fans. This third in a series is a quick, fun read."--Booklist

It takes a special kind of best friend to realize that what you need most in your life is a murder investigation. Advice columnist Molly Forrester is still trying to break through as a journalist, and her best friends are completely--if a little ghoulishly--supportive. And when Manhattan advertising maverick Garth Henderson is murdered, she just might finally get that chance with this juicy assignment: an exclusive interview with Gwen Lincoln, the victim's ex-wife and the prime suspect.

Was the murder a calculated business move, a crime of passion, or something more sinister? Is the killer lurking among the employees of the rival advertising firm Garth just purchased? Or among "The Harem," his six beautiful, talented, and ruthlessly competitive creative directors? Or on the staff of fashion designer Emile Trebask, once Garth's client and now Gwen's business partner?

While racing to solve the ad world's most notorious murder on deadline, Molly must also grapple with her manipulative editor, who always has her own angle on everything. To further complicate matters, one of her best friends may have either found true love or a relationship that will destroy her. And Molly's own ex-boyfriend is circling the story, trying to get his own scoop--and get back into Molly's good graces. Can Molly handle all these competing interests? Can her current boyfriend, NYPD homicide detective Kyle Edwards?

Never one to sidestep a challenge, in work or in love, Molly digs in her four-inch heels and presses forward. In Manhattan, you stand by your deal. Even if it kills you. Killer Deal is the dynamic third installment in Sheryl J. Anderson's delightful Molly Forrester series.
"Entertaining . . . chick lit fans, not to mention Sex in the City buffs, will find much to like.--Publishers Weekly

"Her delightful series . . . reverberates with wit, style, and superb characterization. Anderson skillfully depicts the decadent Manhattan music scene. . . In the end, Killer Riff proves to be a classy requiem for life in the fast lane."--Mystery Scene

Since advice columnist Molly Forrester started solving murders, her work has grown very exciting while her love life has grown quite complicated. But finally, all the hard work and sacrifice might be paying off: she's being promoted to feature writer at Zeitgeist magazine. Equally promising, her ex, Detective Kyle Edwards, might be ready to give their relationship one more try. Could Molly actually be poised to have it all? Unfortunately, life is never that simple.

Molly hopes that the article will prove she can write about more than homicide. But then Olivia Elliott, the subject of Molly's article, claims her father, a famous music manager, was murdered. The revelation catapults Molly into a glittering world filled with backstabbing widows, feuding rock musicians, and crazy paparazzi. As Molly investigates, she finds herself surrounded by people used to living in the spotlight and who have trouble differentiating between rumor, legend, and truth.

Adding to the tumult, her best friends, Tricia Vincent and Cassady Lynch, are going through romantic upheavals of their own, but they're still eager to assist Molly in her investigation. Even Kyle finds himself drawn into the mystery and back into Molly's arms as she uncovers the dark secrets of rock royalty and learns that some musicians would kill for the perfect song.
