About this ebook

"I love this Beauty and the Beast story that Skye Warren has crafted. She puts a twist to this classic tale that makes it different and deliciously erotic." - Nina's Literary Escape

Once upon a time there was a beautiful college student...

Erin cleans Mr. Morris's house twice a week to pay her tuition. The reclusive ex-soldier intimidates her, but she can't help but feel sympathy for him. Then she walks in on him touching himself, and she has much darker, much more sensual feelings.

And a beastly professor with scars he can't hide...

Blake Morris knows he's scarred both inside and out. He's reclusive and surly. Nowhere near good enough for the smart and beautiful young woman who cleans his house.

He receives an offer to return to his alma mater as an associate professor. This is his chance to reenter the world--and to be worthy of the woman he dreams about. He never expected to see her sitting in his classroom on the first day of the semester.

This book was free to read at the time of my review. Warning: Over 18 content and this book needs to be read with the other part of the duet in order to get the full story. Erin is a graduate student who cleans houses for a reclusive former soldier and former professor. One day she discovers that Blake is as attracted to her as she is to him and they soon begin sleeping together. Erin has to deal with baggage from her mother and her experience of being a cleaning lady along with her own experience of being told that she wasn't good enough to date her last serious boyfriend. Blake has to deal with his disfigurement from being bombed and tortured while serving in the military and with his girlfriend/fiancee's rejection upon his return. Can these two tortured souls find love and happiness together? Can they get past the differences in their social standings? What happens when secrets come to life and the past comes back to haunt? This book is full of angst, second guesses, lots of action in and out of the bedroom, anger, disillusionment, love and some redemption.

*** ARC Received for Honest Review *** 5 stars Whoa! Talk about starting out hot and heavy right from the get go! I was waking my husband up after the first few chapters, lol! With such a quick start in terms of will they or won't they get together, I wondered where the story would go; where would the conflict come? But me of little faith, I should know better than to ever doubt Skye Warren and her writing prowess. You are taken on a ride that is unexpected and written in a way that almost feels backwards...until you get to the end. I was left immediately wanting the next book. The conflict comes and be ready to instantly one-click the next book. This is an AMAZING take on an old tale. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one (and neither can my husband, lol)

I enjoyed this book. The story was entertaining and it held my interest well. Both of the main characters were complex and I liked them a lot as a couple. There was no denying the sparks of attraction and the generous amounts of heat generated by the intimate scenes shared by these two. The storyline offers a entertaining blend of drama, heat, tension and emotional turmoil. My one complaint was that I felt that there was a big imbalance in the emotional connection between Blake and Erin. Even with Blake's baggage and anxieties I never had one single second of doubt about the intensity and depths of his feelings for Erin. But, I could not really say the same for her. As the story unfolded, I tried very hard to cut her some slack because of her baggage, her mother's painful history and the differences in their economic situation. Unfortunately I just ended up feeling that yes, she was attracted to him and yes, she wanted him, but I never felt she needed him or for that matter that she even wanted to. I do hope this changes in book two because right now I'm not so sure she truly deserves Blake. Please be aware that there is a cliffhanger in preparation of book two at the end of this book. This book features dual narration which is a bonus that I always appreciate and I thought that Mr. Dexter and Ms. Langola did a excellent job. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
