About this ebook

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder - and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family.

He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history.

But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

This book is part of a trilogy, which i received for my birthday. This is a good book but you have to push yourself a bit to get to the main story. if you still dont know what the book is about you'll have to read 100 pages or a little more before you start the story and after that once you've had a jist of the characters it gets better. I found the story complex and intreging and exciting and scary! The book has it's highs and it lows but i was told by two friends that The Girl Who Played with Fire(2) and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest(3) is better than the first sequel which is this one.

I have to admit I read this, and continued when at times I would have put it down, just because it was well publicised. I felt I must be missing something and certainly towards the later parts it is quite gripping. But the prose did not engage me and left me wondering if it would be better in Swedish. Just a hint towards the end of a more complicated story.

Been meaning to read this book for a while now. Not disappointed. A real page turner with some very suprising twists at the end . Would say to anyone don't be put off near the middle where the author seems to pay to much attention to charcter detail, family tree. Makes it a bit of a chore , but otherwise, an excellent engaging story.
