About this ebook

Things can get pretty dark in the City of Light.

Claire Baskerville is a sixty-something American who finds herself alone in Paris when her husband is brutally murdered. Reeling from the onslaught of devastating secrets he left behind Claire is stunned to realize she no longer knows who to trust.

She only knows she can’t move forward until she finds out the truth behind who killed her husband.

In spite of a genetic brain anomaly that makes it impossible for her to remember faces –even ones she’d seen just moments before, and all alone in a foreign city, Claire doggedly collects the clues that will lead her to her husband’s killer.

Unfortunately, the closer she gets to the truth, the more determined that killer is to make sure she never leaves Paris alive.

I overlooked this book a couple of times, because I thought it would be boring reading about a 60 plus year old female. But, one day when I could not find anything more exciting to read, I reluctantly started to read this book. And I só thoroughly enjoyed this book, with all its kinks and turns, that I just could not put it down, and finished it in one read straight! Well done on a book well written. I also enjoyed the numerous French sentences used, but also that it is explained in English.

What a relief to read about a sisty year old sleuth who is not the least bit helpless. If someone comes at her with a knife, he'll soon find himself bloody, with his knife on the floor. And here she is in Paris, working for other expats as a skip tracer. I love these books, even though they contain no magic.

Very enjoyable story told from the viewpoint of a mature woman who is shocked by the lies her murdered husband had been living, and her quest to find who killed him, despite the lack of help from the Parisian police.
