Ratings and reviews

I love Susan's books and I always love the female characters in her stories. And this book was really good, too..... but I just could not like Sidney. Gumby was way too forgiving with her and she put Caite in danger. But no one even seemed to be mad at her for continually doing what she did. I usually connect with all of the characters and root for them.... but I just really didn't like Sidney.

The characters were really developed in the book. I appreciated the several touches of PTSD even though the awareness wasn't necessarily intended. The dog fighting awareness... the only reason for a 4 star and not 5 is it seemed the book moved too fast after the characters were developed. Perhaps I just wasn't ready for the book to end 😍

this book has some very graphic information about dog fighting, animal cruelty, animal and human violence. it can definitely be a trigger for people who have witnessed this in their own lives. it should come with a warning.
