Highly recommend this story! I've read so many books but this one I could not put down, even to fix supper for my family. To there regret it was a night they had to fend for themselves, nothing was gonna get in between me and finishing this story to the end! The plot was so real to life instead of more of a fairy tale. Slavery, conviction of the innocent because of people with power that can be bought and how that can ruin many lives just because they want to make an example of those people and have it backfire on them because of true honesty, well let's just say that it still happens in this day and age and probably always will. So sad. But this story was.... OMG I just don't know how to describe it! It was such an emotional rollercoaster ride for me, one minute I'm laughing and then the next minute I'm crying and the only thing that broke up my concentration of the story was hearing my 15 year old son say " oh know it must be a good book cause moms crying again!" And my 19 year old son responded to that with "yea that's why we had to fix our own supper tonight". Lol I had to share this because seldom does this ever happen! I'm always here to fix supper for my family of 5 unless the book I'm reading is that GOOD. I LOVED IT!!!!!

I love the combination of slow-burn romance and sea adventure in this novel! Researching historical fashion and naval life beforehand has also made me appreciate this novel better. This bookbhas well-thought out characters and dialogue that sparks a full range of emotion in its readers from romance, to joy, sorrow, among others. I love how Tessa Dare also shows how honesty solves a lot of problems instead of hiding behind more lies and pretense. Definitely a recommended read!

Liked the first one better but still got into this one and still really enjoyed it a lot!
