Great read!! A stand alone packed with secrets, second chances (in more ways than just a romantic relationship), and all the emotions. I didn't quite know how I felt at times. A well written journey of hearts, a mother and her daughter, against all odds making it out the other side, success, along with a few scars as well. Tae wanted to know where her father was. Riggs just wanted to help Tae, because his heart knew she was the one for him. Little did he know, what a can of worms that would open up. Choices aren't always clear-cut, not always one being right and the other being wrong. This story shows there isn't always a right way, just simply a way, to move forward. The whole premis of this book was goodness, and I liked that very much. Even with the bumps in the road just made it more realistic, more emotional. Tae was a wonderfully strong woman and Riggs was the perfect partner to her. I received an early readers' copy. All thoughts and opinions are strictly my own.

Wonderful second chance romance! Tae and Riggs are reunited after having been together briefly in high school; both of them are wary due to their experiences growing up, but find themselves continually drawn to each other. This book is not only a romance, but also involves the stories of Tae's mom April, her dad, and Riggs's brother Jake and his girlfriend Carolyn. 4.5* One of my favorite Jill Shalvis' novels! Second chance romance is my second favorite trope- throw in some childhood friends, and I am all in! And while Tae and Riggs really only had a one night stand back in the day, I loved seeing them reconnect and explore the feelings that had been simmering for so long. The Friendship Pact was a sweet, swoony, emotional read. It was all about family and the choices we make, and the consequences of those choices.
