Khloe Richardson is silently pining for her boss, Bennett Charles, who barely acknowledges her existence. Her best friend Morgan has an idea: why not get Khloe a date for the upcoming company gala to try and grab Bennett’s attention and make him notice Khloe for the sexy person she is. Well, that she could be if she didn’t look like the programmer nerd she is. So they’re off to a bachelor’s auction, and Morgan will not leave without Khloe having a date, and she finally snatches the last bachelor available. Unfortunately it could not have been worse: he is none other than Irish hottie Niall Hunter, who was Khloe’s brother Michael’s best friend. Michael died three years ago, and in a drunken and grief fuelled stupor, Niall and Khloe had sex, he took her virginity, and he nearly threw her out of his house the morning after. Niall feels guilty to have betrayed his best friend’s trust in more ways than one, even though he cannot get Khloe from his thoughts. She’s loved him for as the moment she knew what love was, but she is bitterly angry, and understandably so. And their road to romance is a very, very difficult one, the conflicts and misunderstandings very well conveyed by Ms. Simone. THE MILLIONAIRE MAKEOVER is a quick read, fast-paced, written in a crisp, contemporary and fresh style. I loved the dialogues, which sounded totally genuine, especially between Morgan and Khloe. I’m not quite sure if I was supposed to like Morgan as much as I did, but I loved her! The MILLIONAIRE MAKEOVER is a fun, quick read, with a lovely Irish accent! Well done, Ms. Simone! "The Millionaire Makeover" by Naima Simone is book two in the "Bachelor Auction" series. This is Khloe Richardson and Niall Hunter's story. Niall had promised Khloe's brother before he died that he would not hurt Khloe. Niall and Khloe had one passionate night together. He left Khloe without a word because he had failed to protect her and the only way to keep from causing her harm was to leave her. Khloe never got over that night. Khloe decides to make some changes in her life. She wants to make this guy at work jealous. Her plan is to get a date to help her make him jealous. Khloe and her friend go to a charity auction where she bids on a bachelor. Well, the bachelor Khloe ends up with is Niall. Will Niall and Khloe be able put their past behind them? Will they take a chance on love or will Niall just help Khloe to not hide her beauty? I have mixed feelings on this book. You have two people that are experiencing a lot of emotional stress in their lives. They really need each other. The reader can feel their range of emotions from happy, sad, to passion. On the other side the language and a good portion of the intimate scenes just took away from the romance. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Entangled Publishing for an honest review. Funky, sexy and moving. I received an ARC of The Millionaire Makeover in exchange for an honest review. Stories like this one are so delightful to find. Niall is a character that is fighting inner turmoil but is such a magnificent blend of arrogant, sweet and tortured. Khloe has a fragile heart and a dreamers soul. Naima Simone created a story that blends a modern day feel with what I find endearing about romance. I loved it and will be reading more of this author's work.
