About the author

Chase Young, Ph.D., joined the Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the fall of 2013. He has taught in the primary grades and served as a literacy coach in the public school system. Dr. Young received his Ph.D. in Reading Education from the University of North Texas. He typically publishes in academic journals for practitioners such as The Reading Teacher, and he also contributes chapters to a variety of books for teachers.
