I liked the premise to the story & I love mafia romance so I don't understand why I couldn't get into this book. We can all agree Dimitri is not a good man& how he treats Michael & his brother's is horrifying not to mention the threats to their mom. Toni was trying to do the impossible get charges brought against a powerful senator for sexually assaulting her. She can't get anyone to believe her why would a powerful man resort to rape and because she won't be quiet she loses everything & now she's got a target on her back the Russian mob wants her dead. You need to read this book to see what happens when Michael decides to defy Dimitri. Can he keep Toni as well as his mom & brother's alive? Grab your copy to find out the answers to these questions & more and you can make up your own mind about this book. I enjoyed reading this book it has strong characters with a well thought out story. It has enough in the book to keep your attention and keep you reading . This is a mafia romance with Micheal being ordered to kill Toni because she will not keep quiet about her assault. Michael decides to romance her in the hope the hit on her will be dropped but things never go as planned and now they are both on the run together only can they stay alive to stay together. This is book one in The Valesky Crime Family Series and it is Toni and Michael's story and omg it is a great start to a new series and a must read. When Toni is abused and attacked by a senator and she reports him everything in her life goes wrong and she is also in danger as the senator is also associated with a mob boss. Michael's step-father is a Russian mafia boss and he wants Michael to dispose of Tori as she could affect his business but when they meet nothing goes according to plan and now Michael, Tori and there family are all in danger and they will all have to fight to survive. The connection and chemistry between Michael and Toni is so strong and not and the twists and turns along the way is what makes this book a real page turner that I couldn't put down and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Tina Donahue is a brilliant author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book as it was so well written, addictive and definitely worth reading.
