About this ebook

DEEPER THAN ANY OCEAN . . .
All Holly Tyler wants is a fantastic career, a not-too-committed relationship, and a city where there are no painful memories. Instead, she's called back to her hometown of Seashell Bay to help with her family's struggling general store. It's a town where everyone knows everyone, and where one man could sink Holly's careful plans.

Deputy Sheriff Micah Lancaster has wanted Holly for as long as he can remember. He knows she has a life on the mainland-and a boyfriend-and that there's no real future with her. But now Holly is back and the attraction still flickers between them, a promise of something more. Their desire is stronger than any undertow . . . and once it pulls them under, it won't let go.

SEE YOU AT SUNSET is a tender and realistic romance, filled with emotions and a dash of unexpected suspense. Holly Tyler just made a big change in her life: she’s leaving her great job in Boston for a start-up with fabulous career opportunities in NYC, when she gets a message that she is needed urgently in her hometown of Seashell Bay. Her Aunt Florence had a serious panic attack, she’s in hospital, and Florence’s sister Beatrice cannot manage Jenkins General Store alone. Holly hadn’t planned to visit Seashell Bay that year because she did not want to see Micah Lancaster. He’s an old friend, but the previous summer something changed, Holly does not see Micah the way she used to after he helped her so much when she was recuperating from an injury. Holly is convinced Micah wants to be more than friends, and she’s right. But what does she want? Her husband was a soldier, he was killed on a mission four years ago, and she still doesn’t feel ready to commit to anyone, and Micah is a police officer. Then a series of robberies shakes the small town to its core. V.K. Sykes recreates so vividly the atmosphere of a small coastal town, I felt I was a resident of Seashell Bay. Holly is plagued with indecision, and what first appeared at a short-term minor annoyance, becomes a mountain for Holly, as little things keep adding up. Micah has to be the most patient man ever; he is a hero just the way I like them: he is strong, trustworthy, and caring; he is understands Holly’s issues, he is willing to compromise, and he really listens; he’s quite a lovely man. I particularly enjoyed watching Micah do his job as a small-town cop; it felt totally authentic, whether it concerned an elderly kleptomaniac to real police work. SEE YOU AT SUNSET flows very smoothly; the writing is flawless, and the characters so clearly defined, they seem real. I was also pleasantly surprised at the mystery that is woven throughout the story, which leads to a very exciting conclusion! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

See You at Sunset by V.K. Sykes was such a great story. This is book # 3 in the Seashell Bay series but can be read as a standalone book. Holly Tyler left Sea Shell Bay years ago to pursue a career in the big city and start a new life for herself after tragically losing her husband overseas. When Holly receives a call saying her aunt is in the hospital and her family needs her help running the store Holly heads back to the one place she hadn't planned on, Sea Shell Bay. Holly finds herself falling back into the groove Deputy sheriff Micah Lancaster has been friends with Holly for as long as he can remember. Micah has also been harboring feelings for Holly just as long and when they see each other again for the first time there is no denying the sparks that are flying between these two. Now Micah has convince Holly to stay and give them a try before she heads back to her life in NYC. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

Holly is a dreamer. She sees her life as she wants it to be, because she's too afraid to face what it is. Micah has a few dreams of his own and they all include Holly as the star. Holly is his dream come true but he has to convince her that he can be hers too. Micah is the perfect fantasy. He saw Holly without blinders, flaws and all--BUT loved her anyway. That is the perfect guy. What made him extraordinary was his determination to show her how special she was. I received an ARC of See You at Sunset by V.K. Sykes in exchange for an honest review. Micah loved Holly enough to show her how to love herself. That is what I found so beautiful about this read.

About the author

V. K. Sykes is a wife/husband writing team -Vanessa Kelly and Randall Sykes - who write romantic suspense and single-title contemporary romance. One of the great things they appreciate about being writers is that they can work anywhere so Vanessa and Randy split their time between Ontario, Canada, in the summer and Florida in the winter. Both locations have shores just as beautiful as the imaginary Seashell Bay.
