Emma is faced with following the same trail her parents traveled with fatal results as she desperately attempts to locate her missing brother, Cleve, who has either been killed or abducted by Native Americans. Along the way, she unexpectedly finds love in a trail hardened wagon-hand, Elias Maddock. Filled with excitement, suspense, and drama, Emma's journey does not end after she and Elias settle and build a successful farm together. About the author

Vickie Gatdula is a Nebraska based author. Gatdula learned the art of writing at her grandmother’s side as a young girl. On weekends, the two would craft short stories, which they would then compare, thus refining the skills Gatdula would later incorporate into her own writing.

Fascinated by the dynamics of familial interactions, Gatdula has attempted to capture the strengths and weaknesses, the prejudice and hatred, and the ability to overcome tragedies facing a family.

Gatdula has spent the last forty-two years married to her high school sweetheart, with whom she now has four children. By introducing an appreciation for writing to her children, she has passed the torch bestowed on her by her grandmother.

When Gatdula is away from the keyboard, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and relaxing by her koi pond.

The author can be found on Facebook under the name: Vickie Gatdula.
