This book is one of my favorites. If you gave it a one-star review, read the book again. It gets so sad. I love this book because it has dogs, it's heartfelt, and it has emotion. Just don't watch the movie. It's terrible because the dogs are so smart and loving, but in the movie, it just shows them as vicious dogs. I would advise this book to anyone who loves to read fictional stories (like me) and loves dogs (also me). Have fun reading! 🫡👋🫶 Just be warned about the end...

The plot was ok but it wasn't a good book, still can't figure out why everyone cries like its not even sad. edit: not saying its horrible but the book isn't bad I just personally found it boring sorry

I had read this book for school as a young child. Having grown with a red blood hound as my best friend and "brother" this book holds a special place in my heart. This is now my third read, and am still as drawn in now as the first time. Read this book, understand it, and allow yourself to feel the puppy love that all should. Spend your time in nature with your dog(s), experience the heartfelt joy and pain, the memories that only gods true love can bring.

About the author

Wilson Rawls was the beloved author of the enduring classic Where the Red Fern Grows and the acclaimed novel Summer of the Monkeys. Born on a small farm in the Ozark Mountains, Rawls spent much of his childhood exploring the hills and river bottoms of northeastern Oklahoma alongside Rowdy, his faithful old bluetick hound—experiences that would later inspire the heartfelt adventures in his fiction.

First published in 1961, Where the Red Fern Grows has become a treasured classic for generations of readers and was adapted into a widely praised motion picture. Rawls’ second novel, Summer of the Monkeys, also earned critical acclaim, receiving numerous honors including the prestigious California Young Reader Medal. Wilson Rawls remains one of the most cherished voices in children’s literature. He died in 1984 at the age of seventy-one.
