At first, I found the book quite boring, not being able to quite immerse myself in the world. But as it progressed, I began to have a deep look at the worldview of a child, the injustice of this world, and the many other overarching themes the book has to offer. 10/10 Will most definitely pick this book up again.

The timeless message of "Be ye kind, one to another" and "Love thy neighbor" is permeated throughout this novel and is embodied in Atticus Finch. This book has struck a deep nerve in me since I read it when I was 28. It was not taught at my school when I was growing up. My father recommended this book to me when I was coming out of a very depressed time I was going through. I still hang on to every word in this book and I make a yearly journey into its pages. It is not just about racial injustice, although it is easy to pick that message up. It transcends that. Love your fellow man, black or white,male or female, rich or poor, young or old, well-learned or willfully ignorant....love everybody. I agree with what Philip Alford, the actor who portrayed Jem Finch in the film, said, To Kill a Mockingbird is the second most important book to read behind the Bible." He's right.

I'm a 8th grader and I was looking for a new book to read and I've heard so many good comments about this book. As I was reading it I was a little confused I felt like it was all over the place,but after thinking i realized all the great lessons it taught me. I suggest this book to everyone it's by far my favorite book ever.

About the author

Harper Lee was born in 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama. She is the author of the acclaimed To Kill a Mockingbird and Go Set a Watchman, which became a phenomenal #1 New York Times bestseller when it was published in July 2015. Ms. Lee received the Pulitzer Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and numerous other literary awards and honors. She died on February 19, 2016.
